Published: 23 Jul 2019

The Ministry of Public Works and Housing through the Directorate General (DG) of Bina Marga along with four mining companies signed a cooperation agreement on the construction of three flyovers and one bridge on the national road in South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan).

The mining companies are PT Antang Gunung Meratus, PT Binuang Mitra Bersama, PT Hasnur Jaya Internasional and PT Talenta Bumi. The development is a form of corporate social responsibility (CSR) from the company whose area of operation is in South Kalimantan.

Director General of Highways, Arie Setiadie Moerwanto expressed his gratitude for the cooperation of the companies. According to him the concept of bridge infrastructure / fly over as a form of corporate CSR will be applied in other regions. If in South Kalimantan the company invited to cooperate is operating in the mining sector, then in Central Kalimantan and West Kalimantan, the companies involved in the oil palm sector are invited to collaborate.

"We learn from South Kalimantan, we will try to apply this in Bengkulu and South Sumatra, which face the same problem," he said through an official statement on Thursday (06/07).

He considered this collaboration to be very beneficial, in the midst of still limited government funds to build road and bridge infrastructure.

Head of Region XI National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) Sugiyartanto said that for the time being the construction of three flyovers and one bridge at Sungai Puting would enter the physical construction phase.

"PT Talenta is already (going to construction), PT Hasnur is negotiating with its service providers. We have also reported this to the Minister (Public Works and Public Housing / PUPR), and he plans to come to the field directly in September or October to check progress on the ground, "he said.

Sugi said, even though the construction was carried out by the contractor who was appointed directly by the mining company and was not bound by the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 54 of 2010 concerning Government Procurement of Goods / Services because it did not use APBN funds. However, his side continued to assist by providing technical design approval and technical advice and supervision during the construction process.

"We keep a close readiness of the criteria for the design, but it must be design-worthy. We have accompanied from the beginning. Because later after construction, flyovers and bridges are completed, there will be a grant process to become Bina Marga assets, we will be able to function properly, "he said.
